Livermore Scottish Games

Four years ago Birnam Games twinned with the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District’s (LARPD) Highland Games in Livermore, California, USA. Over those years, a very enjoyable friendship developed between the two communities, with representatives exchanging yearly visits. The highlights of the annual exchanges were the presentations of the Livermore Shield at the Birnam Games and the Birnam Cup at the Livermore Games.

Unfortunately, because of the current dismal economic situation in the state of California, and despite local popularity, the LARPD can no longer fund their Games and has been forced to suspend them. The Livermore Games are one of five Northern California highland games that have closed over the past three years.

Despite this hopefully temporary set-back, the Livermore community and their Games enthusiasts hope to maintain the connection with our Birnam Games and will continue to have a delegate present at our Games to award the Livermore Shield.
